I am from the Inland Northwest and grew up in Spokane, Washington. I started my career as a dishwasher and slowly moved up to other positions in the kitchen and eventually learned all of them. This was the start of my insatiable appetite and passion for the culinary arts - I couldn't get enough! I ended up graduating from the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy as it is now called and then moved to Seattle. While in Seattle, I worked at the Space Needle and at the same time earned another degree from the Art Institute of Seattle.

I was ready to move back to Spokane and take what I had learned and put it to use. I worked a couple places in the area (Ankenny’s, Black Rock, Cedars) and along the way acquired what it takes to be a chef. Now, I wish I had learned more from other chefs, before moving on to my own kitchen, but I was too eager to prove my skills. Hindsight is 20/20....but I travel and read as much as possible to keep myself on top of what is trendy, new and exciting in our industry. I try to grasp every bit of knowledge out there and push myself hard to be current, however there are things that aren't taught in any other way except time on the job with a great teacher.

I started to get noticed in the area while I was at Brix restaurant in downtown Coeur d’ Alene. It was fine dining and a little more of the food I wanted to focus on and it was the first place I really got to sharpen my skills and establish my identity. My next move was to the Coeur d’ Alene casino. It is an unusual path, going from working in small restaurants to running several venues, but I wanted to make a difference on a larger scale. The casino resort was in the process of a huge expansion and I wanted to help build the new casino restaurant operations. It was great to be a part of what they were doing on the ground level and I also took this opportunity to improve the quality of the food in all the venues. As somewhat of a a side job, I created a dining experience called the Wandering Table. Each month my team traveled around the Northwest creating a unique twelve course dinner. That concept and the casino have been really great creative outlets for me and has helped me get people from our area excited about food. I left the casino to open a brick and mortar Wandering Table as well as Yards Bruncheon at Kendall Yards. At the same time I took over Eat Good Café and started Le Catering Co. out of Liberty Lake, WA.

I was honored to be invited to cook at the James Beard house as well Star Chefs twice in New York City. I was featured at the South Beach Food & Wine festival, was a semifinalist for the James Beard Award, Best Chef Northwest. I won the innovator of the year award from the National Beef Council and United Fresh, as well as other national and international awards for competitions. Catalyst magazine named me one of the top 20 under 40 leaders in Spokane and 50 most influential people in Spokane.

I have always been passionate and driven to improve my culinary skills and knowledge. I want to make a difference and help be a part of the food and dining culture in our area. I am excited to bring my passion and love for food to Sandpoint and Ponderay and share our area’s abundance of offerings and resources by creating great food, great entertainment and a great culinary experience at my newest location – Farmhouse Kitchen & Silo Bar!
